Academic degrees at UCN

UCN is focused on higher education programmes which give the students either an Academy Profession (AP) degree or a Bachelor (BA) degree.

What is a Academy Profession degree? What does it lead to?

An Academy Profession (AP) degree is an undergraduate academic degree that is recognized by The Danish Ministry of Education as internationally recognized through the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). This comprehensive two-year curriculum is similar to the first two years of a 3-year Bachelor degree.

The degree of Academy Profession may be conferred upon a candidate who satisfactorily completes subjects having the value of at least 120-135 ECTS points. An AP degree generally gives a platform to go directly into business or industry. However, you can also continue directly or later on at the bachelor top-up programmes offered by UCN Technology & Business or through another university in Denmark or abroad.

These top-up BA programmes are typically 1.5 year, giving you 90 ECTS points. By combining an AP degree with a top-up BA degree you get a very flexible path that you can direct towards the career that you are looking for. Graduating with a top-up degree from UCN Technology & Business means that you can continue with master studies at Danish universities or abroad.

What is a Professional Bachelor degree? What does it lead to?

Professional Bachelor degree is a career-oriented professional education programme. Depending on the subject, the Professional Bachelor degree is conferred after 3 to 4 years of study (180-240 ECTS points). The programmes provide students with a solid theoretical knowledge and understanding of how to apply theory to professional practice. A bachelor project (10 ECTS) and work placements (minimum 30 ECTS) are included in the programmes. Studies are based on a combination of lectures, seminars, project work, and group activities.

A Professional Bachelor degree qualifies to enter a specific position on the labour market within the field of study. Additionally, most Professional Bachelor degrees give access to master's studies.

All Professional Bachelor study programmes are subject to internal quality assurance procedures as well as external evaluations at national and international level guaranteeing academic standards. The Danish Ministry of Education approves all programmes.
