Greetings from the 20th EASM Conference Chair

It is with great honour that I welcome you to the 20th European Association for Sport Management Conference in Aalborg. This is the first time the conference is held in Denmark, a country where education in sport management is a relatively new area of focus.

Hosting the 20th EASM Conference is a proud milestone for University College of Northern Denmark – a milestone that can be compared to when the organisation became the first educational institution in Denmark to offer a sport management programme that combines business with sports.

The conference venue is located at the UCN Mylius Erichsens Vej in the eastern part of Aalborg. It is a modern educational centre with all necessary facilities for the EASM 2012 conference. There will be shuttle busses between the conference hotels and the venue during the conference.

The general theme of this conference will be
'Sport between business and civil society'.

With 2012 being an Olympic year, several sport organisations are showing great interest in the conference. Therefore, I have invited The National Olympic Committee (and Sports Confederation of Denmark) and The Danish Institute for Sports Studies to co-host this EASM Conference. These organisations are progressive contributors to the Danish sports environment and their knowledge, experience and large international network will add great value to the conference. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Municipality of Aalborg for their involvement and cooperation in relation to hosting the conference.

I look forward to seeing you and showing you the city of Aalborg and the beautiful countryside of Northern Jutland.
