UCN Library Regulations

You need to be registered as library user to borrow from the library.
 

Borrowing from the library

Students, employees and course participants at University College Nordjylland can borrow from the UCN Library.
In addition to this, persons with a connection to or interest in our subject areas can use the physical library collection. 

Library card

Your social security card or your student ID card is your library card together with a pin code.
As a new student you will automatically be registered as a library user, when you start studying at UCN.

  

Borrowing and returning

You are responsible for the materials you borrow and the responsibility to return the materials in time is also yours. Recall notices and reservation notices are mailed by e-mail, text message (sms) or letter. As ground rule we use the UCN mail-addresses given to the student/employee by UCN. 

Reserving materials

You can make a reservation for a material by using our library catalogue. Making a reservation is free of charge:

First come, first served:
If you find the material on the library shelves yourself, you get a first claim on the material, even if another library user has made a reservation online.
When the materials are ready to pick up you will get an email or text message. Please note that reservations for Lindholm Brygge or Sofiendalsvej will be available approximately 24 hours after receiving the reservation notice. You need to pick up the materials within 7 days.

Extending the loan period

You can renew the loan period up till 10 times. If another borrower has requested the item, you may be asked to return it immediately. For renewals please use “My account”:

You are also welcome to contact the library.

If you have received a 2.recall notice on a material, you can only extend the loan period by contacting the library employees.

 

Loan periods

*  The journals from Skolevangen and Selma Lagerløfs Vej are not to be loaned. The newest issues from other departments are not to be borrowed.

Consequences if you fail to return your library books in time

As an extra service it is possible to receive a reminder (email and text message) 3 days before the materials are to be returned. You need a Danish cell phone number to use our text message (SMS) services.
 

Paying fines and charges to the library

Fines and charges can be paid cash at the library or by bank transfer. If you use internet banking select “indbetalingskort”, and then “kortart 73”. For “kreditornummer” enter 84261548. Remember to state your name and bill number at “meddelelser til modtageren" (message for the receiver).
