
With almost 15,000 inhabitants, Thisted is the largest city of the Thy-region. Despite its size, the city has kept its ambience of intimacy, which you can feel as you take a walk through its many charming streets and alleys, or along the Fjord.

Thisted is a lively city, with plenty of possibilities for cultural activities. You can often find cultural events in Thisted be it music events, theatrical plays, markets etc. Furthermore, you can visit Thisted Museum, which is a regional museum where you will find e.g. memorials of two famous townsmen, the writer, Mr. J.P. Jacobsen, and the school pioneer, Mr. Christen Kold.
During summertime you can enjoy the green areas of Thisted, walk along the Fjord, or sail from Thisted harbour with the schooner "Lovise Moland" on the Limfjord.
Thisted is a dynamic and developing commercial city. The pedestrian area is filled with more than 70 interesting shops and plenty of restaurants and cafés in addition. Furthermore, a new shopping centre has opened with a warehouse, shops, restaurants, and a parking area.
After fulfilling your shopping needs, you can relax by the fjord, which offers cozy cafés and restaurants with both local and international menus.
There are plenty of possibilities for being active in Thisted. The location by the fjord makes it easy to engage in water activities, such as sailing, ‘Cold Hawaii’-surfing, kayak paddling, fishing etc. Furthermore you will find indoors swimming facilities as well.
If you prefer activities on solid ground, you can go horseback riding, cycling, hiking etc. Finally, you can join one of the many sport clubs offering football, handball, golf, and much more.
