UCN - University College of Northern Denmark - is a fast developing university college that organizes several dynamic environments for innovation, development and research.
The main UCN objective is to support development of knowledge within the organization and with external public and private companies and research institutes in Denmark as well as with international partners.
UCN is specialized in multidisciplinary development initiatives, applied research partnerships and innovation initiatives in collaboration with all educational units of UCN. Contact Bodil Brander Christensen at bbc@ucn.dk for further information.
Supporting initiatives and development of new knowledge are essential tasks at UCN in order to continuosly improve the learning environment for both the staff and students at the university college. The consequence of these initiatives should be that our curricula are enhanced through interaction with developers, innovators, and researchers which contributes to an active academic learning environment.
We strongly encourage students to contribute to our projects and programmes in order to strengthen knowledge-based innovation, development and research within all profession oriented disciplines.
Danish university colleges do not carry out pure research like the traditional universities, rather they build bridges between applied research and knowledge or technology transfer.
One important aim is to make know-how and equipment available to the Institute for public institutions and small and medium-sized Industries, thereby maintaining the up-to-date knowledge of college lecturers and thus motivating students.
The emphasis is on:
Quick transfer of results in products, processes, and services, usability and project orientation, and transfer from knowledge into action.
The projects are mostly of a short term nature and are linked to public and private sector stakeholders
Developers and researchers from different faculties often work together on one project.
