Development manager, Architectural Technologist and Executive MBA René Martin Larsen from Hjørring, who graduated from the Architectural Technology and Construction Management pro-gramme at UCN - University College of Northern Denmark in 2006, was celebrated as the Archi-tectural Technologist of the Year 2009 for his efforts in implementing and promoting Digital Con-struction.
The UCN Architectural Technology and Construction Management programme was in charge of awarding the prize and the ceremony, which took place on November 13th 2009 at the Utzon Centre in Aalborg.
The Architectural Technologist of the year is no doubt the most prestigious award for Architec-tural Technologists in Denmark. The award was founded in 2001 by the six Architectural Techno-logy programmes in Copenhagen, Haslev, Odense, Esbjerg, Horsens and Aalborg.
The nomination of René Martin Larsen was described by programme director Bruno Larsen from UCN - University College of Northern Denmark and programme director Bente Øhrstrøm from Co-penhagen Business Academy.
“Both in developing and implementing Digital Construction and as an ministerially appointed external examiner on the architectural construction programmes René Martin Larsen has exceptionally left his mark on the development of Danish construction whilst having the energy to educating himself further as an executive MBA,” states Bruno Larsen from the architectural technology programme at UCN who was in charge of arranging the ceremony at the Utzon Centre on behalf of all the architectural technology programmes in Denmark.
René Martin Larsen is originally a carpenter and since he graduated from the architectural techno-logy programme he has worked as a development manager at Bjerg Arkitektur A/S in Hjørring where he was responsible for the organisation and implementation of Digital Construction in the company.
As part of this work René Martin Larsen, who is employed as an expert in the national digital im-plementation network, was the driving force in establishing different interdisciplinary knowledge sharing groups for business people, so-called erfa groups, and development assignments focu-sing on Digital Construction.
Furthermore, as an external examiner on the Bachelor Degree programme of Architectural Tech-nology and Construction Management and acting as a mentor for Architectural Technology and Construction Management students René Martin Larsen has also been at the forefront of Digital Construction when it comes to educating the future employees of the construction industry.
