Creative processes and ideas require you to dare think in new ways. You must dare to jump into challenges where a lot of things are going on and you don’t know if you can handle them. Maia dares. She is curious and loves tasks where the solution is not always that simple.
At the moment, Maia is works in a maternity leave cover as an Art Director at Weltklasse advertisers and PR where she makes marketing material for print and digital media.
The work covers designing visual identities, complete campaign presentations, preparing large user friendly websites, online campaigning material and preparing files for printing. Furhtermore, she also has direct client contact and may, on specific tasks, follow a project from the idea phase to the finished product.
When Maia graduated from her secondary education, she was looking for an innovative study programme. She has always wanted to do something creative and was always interested in magazines, drawings and graphics in general. So when she heard about the Design, Technology & Business (Graphics) programme, she saw the opportunity to combine all of her ambitions.
“To me, the most important thing in a job is that I get tasks that challenge my ability and competencies and thus make me better at doing my job. I am not the kind of person who finds it interesting to do the same kind of task one day after another. The tasks and assignments should be diverse and hold challenges. And they do within the education that I have chosen.”
Maia thinks that she has gained much relevant knowledge form the Design, Technology & Business (Graphics) programme. She has achieved an insight into many different areas of the graphics industry. However, the most useful thing, according to Maia, is the network that the study programme "gave" her. “Today, I can still benefit from the network I got back then. And it’s invaluable.”
One of the things that inspired Maia the most during her studies was a trip to New York to visit the “School of Visual Arts” a school with approaches completely different from what Maia was used to. “They use completely different, inspiring methods when it comes to creative thinking, which was extremely interesting.”
Maia has not yet settled on her career and job yet. She still has so many dreams and options to explore. With her Design, Technology & Business (Graphics) education and her top-up in Multimedia Design & Communication, Maia is well equipped for the creative industries. She already has much experience in the business.
Alongside her studies, she worked freelance with a search engine optimization company, which later led to fixed employment as their Art Director. Furthermore, she has a lot of experience from her present job at Weltklasse - experience that has given her a good foundation for more and new possibilities.
