PULSE – a successful philosophy

A common platform

For students to achieve the goal of a recognisable UCN Technology and UCN Business graduate profile we have a single common platform that focuses on the processes that support the graduate profile. We call this platform PULSE. 

PULSE should be seen, felt and experienced as a rhythm flowing through the organization, connecting its elements, and creating a vibrant, academic learning environment. and it can be defined like this: 

PULSE is a philosophy designed to develop “The whole person” in accordance with the desired graduate profile of UCN Technology and UCN Business.

In order to understand the concept, you can also imagine a factory, which processes raw materials and with the help of the available machinery and staff turns raw material into a tangible product ready to be used by the end user. 

As we see it, you are our ‘raw material’, UCN, its staff and expertise – is the factory and the end user – is your future employer or the labour market. For us it means that we treat you as a very unique ‘raw material’ with its unique attitudes and expectations, which at the end can fully satisfy our end customer.

Yet, it is vital for us to maintain and improve the quality of our product, if we want to live up to the expectations of our customer – business life.

PULSE will ensure: 

• That students experience close interaction with lecturers 

• That all students and staff at UCN - University College of Northern Denmark will feel the presence of the business community in their everyday work 

• That the motivation to create, share and communicate knowledge is strengthened in everyone at UCN - University College of Northern Denmark

• That goals, expectations and possibilities of development are clear to everyone

At UCN - University College of Northern Denmark (Technology and Busines) all faculty and staff have been trained to actively apply the ”PULSE” philosophy (developed in 2008).
