Client advisor and trainee in Nørresundby Bank The internship led to a job which constantly offers diverse tasks. Read Maiken’s story |
Financial products are on the shelves in the business where Martin Toldbod serves his clients the best way he can. Martin works at Nykredit as a financial trainee, a six-month traineeship after which he will be hired as an advisor.
“When I started studying financial management, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after I finished my studies. But during those two years, my interest in what a “financial supermarket” could offer me increased. After some really good incentives from Nykredit, such as Nykredit Summer School, it wasn’t hard for me to decide where I’d prefer to work after I graduated! Luckily, my profile was just right for Nykredit.”
At the moment, what Martin does every day is the job of his dreams. “The fact that I don't just advise clients on their banking businesses but consider their economy as a whole makes for a very interesting and motivating job. This great responsibility means that I have obligations, but it also makes it fun to go to work every day!"
Martin handles everything from preparing insurance proposals to pension plans and transfer of property. During the first 6 months he received a lot of help and discussed problems with experienced advisors, but as time passes he is handling more and more meetings with clients and other tasks on his own.
What means most to Martin in his job at Nykredit is the trust they show him and the freedom he has in his job. “It is basically up to me what tasks I dare take on and how much help I want for each of them.”
A so-called “financial supermarket” that offers its clients a package solution concerning their finances means that each advisor must have wide knowledge in all of those fields and Martin is always able to draw on the knowledge of specialists within each field. This way he gets an insight and experience in many different fields.
Martin is happy with his choice. “The education has definitely given me a sound and wide professional knowledge in fields that I often come across in my work. But it also supplied me with knowledge of other related fields. Furthermore, it gave me good friends that I may also ask for help if I run into problems or if I need to talk to others about their traineeships and plans for the future."
