Sarah Gerding has an AP Degree in Financial Management from UCN and is now working for Nykredit Realkredit, a mortgage credit institution, and Nykredit Bank in Aalborg. Sarah gets interesting and varied assignments and tasks.
“I create case files and make the basic documentation for loans and client evaluation forms i.e. the things where you are not required to know the client. I also enter accounts into our system, order and execute bank documents, make transfers and solve the problems that my colleagues come across. Basically, I am trying to ease the administrative work of my colleagues to let them work with our clients. Furthermore, I am acting as a so-called spearhead, meaning that I am the one who is completely updated on several of our new programs.”
Sarah heard an advert for the Financial Management programme at UCN on the radio and decided to learn more about it. She found out that it was the right education for her and she never regretted her choice:
“What I think was great about UCN was that all the lecturers had been out working in the business so they knew what they were talking about and could relate to our questions. This meant that it wasn’t all theory. I also think that the level was so high that the students who were not serious about it were weeded out quite quickly and that made the level rather high. It is also great that they make an effort for us to go out and see things on our study trips that are relevant to our studies such as ECB when you are in Frankfurt in Germany.”
Sarah is very happy with her present job and she considers it a step on the career ladder that may one day lead to her dream job:
“My current job is a learning job to let me build knowledge and experience that is needed for me to get my own client portfolio so it is important that I don’t miss a thing. This is definitely my dream job, or at least it is the work place of my dreams and my current job is just helping me to prepare for the perfect job. Of course it’s hard work to work for others when you actually want to get out there and deal with clients, but I also know that this is a golden opportunity for me to really gain the basic knowledge that will help me develop in my career."
Sarah thinks that the Financial Management programme has prepared her well for the working life, and she knows that she has found her place in the world of finance.
