Every day is a new day
|
Louise Holme works as a Shop in Shop co-ordinator at Jack & Jones, Bestseller. She has had the job since she graduated as a Marketing Manager. There are many interesting aspects to the job and it offers great freedom with responsibility.
”I am in charge of co-ordinating agreements between our shop in shop clients and construction companies when stores around the world want to open a Jack & Jones shop in shop. I also work in sales of express and stocked items and handle administrative tasks with my shop in shop clients on an ad hoc basis. My position is fairly new so I take part in developing it and choosing my work assignments which is very interesting. When I choose to challenge myself and act on daily tasks I develop myself and our business and that is what makes everyday-life interesting.”
Louise lived in Hamburg for two years. She trained to become a sales assistant, but Louise missed Denmark and chose to move back home to study. The Marketing Management programme at UCN - University College of Northern Denmark has given her solid knowledge that she uses daily in her work with Jack & Jones.
At UCN - University College of Northern Denmark I learned about cultural differences and how different cultures act and I use that knowledge today because I work with different nationalities from Germany, England, Austria, Switzerland and Ireland, and this only makes my job more interesting. I took German language classes at UCN - University College of Northern Denmark and it really comes in handy when I communicate with my German contacts. I really feel that the world lies open to me and that I can see across and beyond the Danish border.”
Louise was smitten with the clothing trade when she trained to become a sales assistant in a men’s wear store in Germany and that is why she knew that she wanted to use her Marketing Management education within the clothing trade.
“When I had completed my training in Germany I wanted to go back to Denmark to study. My interest in marketing and sales had increased over the past years, so I looked into which Danish study programmes could help me gain more theoretical and background knowledge within the trade. I chose Marketing Management at UCN - University College of Northern Denmark. While I was working on my final assignment on my 4th semester I applied for a job at Jack & Jones. Today, nearly five years later, I still get challenges every day and I keep developing on a personal level here at Bestseller, which I am very happy about.”
Right now Louise feels that she has got the job of her dreams. However, if one day this feeling should change, she knows that she has every possibility to develop further, all she needs to do is say it out loud.
