The whole person profile

At UCN Technology and UCN Business

At UCN Technology and UCN Business we consider it our most important task to promote ”The whole person” profile.

This profile was selected on the basis of express and expected demands by the business com-munity for competences in the future work force at all levels. It is thus UCN Technology and UCN Business' goal that graduates live up to this profile. The creation of the profile is the main goal in our learning approach and the organisation of the course of study programmes.

Putting knowledge to good use

Achieving the profile of ”The whole person” is independent from your choice of study programme and reflects UCN Technology and UCN Business’ vision that our graduates should be able to ”put knowledge to good use”. As players in the business community, graduates from UCN Technolo-gy and UCN Business should be characterised by their special and recognisable profile.

“The whole person” denotes a person able to combine knowledge, personal and social skills, creativity and initiative and put all these elements to use in a way that creates value. This way, “The whole person” possesses good balance between disciplinary and personal development.

Head, heart and legs

”The whole person” is developed through a goal-oriented learning approach focusing on ”head”, ”heart” and ”legs”:

  • To understand your own influence on your surroundings
  • To have highly developed communicative skills
  • To be able to establish trust
  • To have respect of differences
  • To establish self-confidence

Legs – initiative and responsibility

  • The ability to turn theory into practical solutions

  • The ability independently to take responsibility for results
  • The ability to perform complex actions
  • The ability to make decisions
  • The ability and will to take initiative
