UCN Technology and UCN Business Student Ambassadors

- Participate in great free activities made by students for students or become an Ambassador yourself!

Since spring 2011, UCN Technology and UCN Business have had a joint ambassador corps made up of international students. The ambassadors perform different tasks to help and benefit current as well as prospective students in Denmark and abroad.

Ambassador tasks

The ambassadors perform different kinds of tasks; you can see some examples here:

Events and activities:

  • The ambassadors co-organise parties for Danish and international students.
  • They initiate cultural events and organise e.g. picnics.
  • They take part in the recurrent international week at UCN to establish contact between Danish and international students on UCN's campuses.
  • They have also started up different leisure and sport activities for the students. This means that you can play basketball, volleyball, football, dance, sing in a choir or play in a band.
  • The ambassadors continually take up new activities. All current students are welcome to make suggestions for new activities or sports.

Student-to-student support

The ambassadors are working to create an internal student-to-student portal that is to act as a virtual campus across all study programmes where students can share information about events, lectures, concerts, competitions, buying and selling items (e.g. books), subletting accommodation, jobs and internship possibilities and good advice and experiences.

Internal marketing
The ambassadors inform about their parties and events on UCN Technology and UCN Business' campuses using posters or Facebook messages. They are also working on setting up and maintaining an event calendar that features all their activities.

External marketing
At UCN Technology and UCN Business we believe that the best ambassadors for our study programmes are happy, satisfied students who tell their friends and acquaintances about UCN on their own initiative.

This is exactly the kind of students that our ambassadors are! That is why the ambassadors contribute to planning high school visits and put up posters in their home countries.

Other ambassador information activities are when they take part in fairs around Europe to tell prospective students about UCN, the city of Aalborg, the learning environment, where and how to live in Denmark, student jobs etc. Read about the participation in these fairs.

Furthermore, the ambassadors make youtube films about students living in the city, about the study environment, about the facilities, about Aalborg in general and much, much more. These films are particularly useful for prospective students who can learn more about the many possibilities and advantages of studying at UCN.

The international students may also prepare different kinds of written material in their native languages to hand out to prospective students in their home countries.

This is how students at UCN Technology and UCN Business can leave their mark on the study environment.

Become an ambassador

If you are a student at UCN Technology or UCN Business, you can also become an ambassador.

You will get the chance to put your innovative ideas into practice and also gain professional experience, along with some extra money in your pockets.

To become an ambassador, there are certain requirements you must meet:

  • You speak and write fluent English.
  • You are a role model to other students. This means that you are study active and that you have understood how the Danish learning approach works.
  • You are energetic and want to make a difference. You are preferably charismatic and convincing and know how to get students involved.
  • You are open to new cultures and interested in integrating into Denmark (learning Danish)
  • You are creative and have ideas, and you are not afraid to suggest them.
  • You have the ability to create events, to organize and manage projects, also financially, and you have good knowledge of IT and communicative flair.

We prepare you for the job

To be able to handle the various ambassador tasks, you will receive instructions e.g. in how to market UCN on school visits. You will also learn how to train new ambassadors for the job.

Come join us

If you don’t feel like becoming an ambassador yourself, you are welcome to join in the many cool, fun and interesting events they arrange over the year. If you have ideas for new events or activities, you can always talk to the ambassadors – they are looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
