AP Degree in Design & Technology (Graphics)

About the programme

The 2-year AP degree in Design & Technology (Graphics) is an opportunity to study in an artistic and professional environment where we welcome diversity, individuality and problem solving. The
education encourages you to develop a highly individual portfolio to reflect your career aspirations.


The programme is for students wanting to develop creative skills within a commercial context and provide creative solutions to real communication problems though design forms, colours and products.
 

The programme consists of four main themes:

 

  1. Hands-on graphic design programmes and applications
  2. The creative and aesthetic design
  3. Cultural and art history
  4. The business approach (production and sales)

The programme equips the graduate to independently plan and carry out processes and tasks in business areas concerning graphic design and communication. For this reason your job opportunities
with an AP degree in Design & Technology (Graphics) will be very prosperous.

Programme structure

The programme is as follows:
The first 3 semesters take place at UCN in Denmark, and consist of compulsory and elective subjects.
 

During the 1st and 2nd semesters:

  • Design Process
  • Value Philosophy
  • Aesthetics
  • Technology
  • Man and the Environment
  • Communication
  • Sales
  • The Enterprise

 

On the 3rd semester graduates have to choose between 3 different profiles within the:
Business and Marketing process
Form and Design Process
Production Process
 

Furthermore, it is mandatory to carry out an internship at a company of your choice getting hands-on experience with design solutions and graphic projects.


Lastly, the fourth and final semester consists of a specialization process together with the final project. Here you get the opportunity to work in-depth with some of the profiles dealt with in the other semesters.


Examples of specialization areas could be:

  • Typography
  • Promotional video and screen graphics
  • Design and marketing aimed at children
  • Packaging design
  • Modern branding
  • 3D and design of experience

English tests: TOEFL (at least 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based), IELTS (6.0)
